The Lighthouse Project is a well established Christian Charity working in association with Scripture Union. The charity exists to serve the schools of Crawley whilst sharing the Christian faith and values.

The work of The Lighthouse Project originally started 20 years ago and works in partnership with local churches. The charity currently works in 23 schools across Crawley and is made up of paid staff and volunteers.


Lizzie Ashley 

(Project Leader)

Lizzie became the Project Leader for The Lighthouse Project in September 2016. She is married and has 1 daughter. Lizzie has worked with young people for the past 14 years. Her previous experience includes church youth work, working with vulnerable children and roles within the school environment.

Samantha Taylor
(Primary Assembly Coordinator)

Sam joined the staff team in February 2020 as our Primary Assembly Coordinator. Sam is married and attends Elim Church in Bewbush where she is involved in the leadership team and leads the children’s ministry.

Becky Sanders
(Primary RE and Lunch Club Coordinator)

Becky was volunteering with The Lighthouse Project before joining the staff team in September 2019. Becky is married with 2 children. She has a lot of experience in working with children in Primary Schools.

Caroline Nyemi-Tei
(Secondary Schools Coordinator- Maternity Cover)

Caroline started working for Lighthouse in February 2020. She attends Broadfield Christian Fellowship where she has been involved with youth ministry. She also runs her own cheerleading buisness and does coaching within schools.

Michelle Wainwright

(Secondary Schools Coordinator)

Michelle has worked with young people for 15 years in both voluntary and paid roles, including 9 years in a Secondary School. She is married and loves going on adventures with her husband. She is part of Broadfield Christian Fellowship. Michelle is on maternity leave from March 2020.

do we do?

The Lighthouse Project works in partnership with local churches to support schools by promoting spiritual, moral and cultural development. We do this is a variety of ways, including:
  • Collective Worship which has a Christian character
  • Lunch clubs
  • Prayer Spaces
  • It’s Your Move (year 6 transition programme)
  • Eliv8 Mentoring Programme
  • Easter and Christmas Explored
  • Relationship and Sex Education
As a charity we do rely upon churches and individuals giving financially.
